Barbara Troxell was born in Easton, Pennsylvania on 16 September 1916. After graduating from Penn State in 1937, she taught voice and piano, completing her master's degree in music education in 1939. She then won a scholarship to the Curtis Institute of Music to study with Madame Elizabeth Schumann, and received the Lucius Pryor Award for 1944-1945. She performed as guest artist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, as a soloist with the Dessoff Choirs, and with the National Orchestral Association. T...
